| I've been crafting corporate prose since 1990, when I
was hired to write speeches for the Chairman of Salomon Brothers, first
John Gutfreund and then Warren Buffett. Working with Mr. Buffett has been
one of the highlights of my career. In 1994, I set up shop on my own, offering my services to executives on a consulting basis -- conceptualizing and writing speeches, marketing brochures, and annual reports. You'll find a representative sample of that work here. Leaf through the entire portfolio, if you like, or check out some of my favorite assignments. What makes them my favorites? Humor -- which I find crops up too rarely in business writing. A singular point of view: I love helping someone make a strong statement. Or just a complex job, well done. The most important "well dones," of course, come from my clients. I've also gotten some good press: The New York Times praised Bankers Trust's 1994 annual report -- which I wrote in the midst of the company's derivatives scandal -- in its article on the "candor and clarity" of annual reports that have bad news to deliver. And I've helped craft some award-winning annual reports -- both working with the client to formulate the message and working on my own to flesh out pre-determined themes. Geography is no object, certainly in these wired times -- I've often written for clients I've never met. (Actually, I started writing for Mr. Buffett before I'd ever met him, but I'd read enough of his writing to get a sense of his voice.) I've also logged a number of hours interviewing company executives in person. I know what kinds of questions to ask, and I'm not shy about asking them -- even of the CEO. If you're interested in finding out what I can do for your company, please give me a call at 973-763-1932 or email me. |
